Massachusetts-based biotechnology company VIGIL NEUROSCIENCE, INC. has set the terms for its initial public offering (IPO) and has caught the attention of retail investors.

On Monday, January 3, the biotechnology company said that it had priced its shares between US$ 15 to US$ 17 per share. Vigil Neuroscience is looking to offer seven million shares of its common stock.

Vigil Neuroscience is focused on developing therapies for people suffering from neurodegenerative diseases. The Massachusetts-based company focuses on developing microglia-based therapies, as it plays an essential role in maintaining the health of the central nervous system (SNS).

The healthcare sector boosted after the COVID-19 pandemic, and retail investors often look for healthcare and biotechnology companies going public in an equities market.

When can you buy Vigil Neuroscience stock?

Vigil Neuroscience is expected to start trading soon in the US equities market, and it will list its common stock on Nasdaq Global Market.

The biotechnology company will trade under the ticker symbol VIGL, and retail investors can buy this stock after Vigil Neuroscience goes public.

According to the amended Form S-1 filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Vigil Neuroscience has not mentioned if its pre-IPO stock would be up for grabs.

Suppose brokerage companies do not give an option to buy shares before the IPO. In that case, retail investors will have to buy Vigil Neuroscience stock like they buy regular shares through stockbrokers or online trading accounts.

The leading underwriters for Vigil Neuroscience IPO will be Stifel, Morgan Stanley, Guggenheim Securities, and Jefferies.

Vigil Neuroscience gives the underwriters an option to purchase up to 1,050,000 additional shares of the common stock.

The biotechnology company is hoping to raise US$ 101.1 million in gross proceeds of US$ 116.7 million if the underwriters buy all the additional shares.

Vigil Neuroscience plans to use the money raised in the IPO to advance the development of therapies, research, and development of the company's programs.
