It provides various services to local authorities as well as industrial clients, which include collection and recycling of waste, processing and disposal of waste, landfill, and special waste services. It is also involved in selling the recovered useful materials and commodities, like glass, metal etc. Apart from these services, it also produces and sells energy generated from waste. The company has many subsidiaries including Company Shop Limited, Amber Engineering Limited, O'Brien Waste Recycling Solutions Limited, Weir Waste Services Limited, Specialist Waste Recycling Limited etc. The company has 34 landfill gas locations, over 300ktpa Anaerobic Digestion (AD) capacity, and has the capacity to generate 530 million kWh of energy per annum.
Biffa has two divisions to run its operations. The collection division mainly focuses on the collection of waste and commodity recycling. In addition to these, it also provides other services, like hazardous waste collection. It provides these services to all kinds of customers, including commercial, municipal, as well as household customers. This division also provides essential services like health and utility services, retail, and distribution of manufactured food etc. to its clients. On the other hand, the Resources & Energy division is involved in processing and treatment of waste as well as generating energy from waste resources.
