On 21 January 2022, the Royal Dutch Shell Plc change its name to Shell Plc by assimilation of the company’s A (code RDSA) and B (code RDSB) shares into a single line of ordinary shares. In November 2021 the company announced plans to end the dual share structure to eliminate the complexity of the company’s A/B share structure and moved its headquarter to the UK. The company is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index. It has a secondary listing on Euronext Amsterdam and New York Stock Exchange.

The company operates through five businesses divisions that include Upstream, Integrated Gas, Renewables and Energy Solutions, Downstream, and Project and Technology. The Upstream business is engaged in managing the exploration for and extraction of crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids as well as markets and transports oil and gas and operates the infrastructure necessary to deliver them to market. The Integrated Gas business is engaged in managing liquefied natural gas (LNG) activities and the production of gas-to-liquids (GTL) fuels and other products. It includes the operation of the upstream and midstream infrastructure necessary to deliver gas to market and exploration and extraction of natural gas.
The Renewable and Energy Solutions identifies commercial ways to meet the evolving energy needs of its customers and its solutions include hydrogen, power from renewable and low carbon sources such as solar, wind and natural gas and decarbonization options. It also develops new business models such as clean power-as-a-service that addresses how digital technology can better help customers with their energy needs.
The Downstream division manages different chemicals and products activities as part of an integrated value chain that trades and refines crude oil and other feedstocks and serves more than 30 million customers at about 46,000 retail service stations every day. Its product portfolio includes conventional fuels for road, aviation and low-carbon fuels and produces bitumen, lubricants, petrochemicals, and Sulphur.
The project and technology division is engaged in managing the delivery of its major projects and drives research and innovation to develop new technology solutions. The company’s major projects include LNG Canada, Vito, Penguins, Pennsylvania Petrochemicals complex, Bonga North West, Appomattox, Kaikias, Cardamom, Malikai, Gumusut-Kakap, Malampaya Phase 2 & 3, Parque das Conchas, Mars B, Ormen Lange, Nanhai Petrochemicals complex and many more.
