Description
Formed in 2004 as a merger of two entrepreneur-led companies, Globaltrans investment PLC is a Cyprus-based holding company that is engaged in providing a leading freight rail transportation services for largest industrial clients alongside railcar leasing and ancillary services, operating across Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and other countries. Its sophisticated logistics capabilities allows the company to efficiently transport key industrial cargoes including oil products and oil, metallurgical cargoes, coal and construction materials. The company has expanded itself organically and through the strategic acquisition of both railcars and other freight rail businesses. The company’s GDRs are trading on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange since May 2008, and in the Moscow Exchange since October 2020. Further its GDRs will be included in the MSCI Russia Small Cap index from 28 May 2021.
The company operates one of the largest railcar fleets in the region, that consist mainly of universal gondola cars capable of capable of carrying a range of bulk cargoes and tank cars for oil products and oil. The company contract manages a total fleet of about 72,000 railcars that includes Gondala cars, Tank cars, specialized containers, flat cars, locomotives and others, across rail network. In Russia the company access railway network on equal terms on non-discriminatory bases as the mainline railway network is owned by a state owned rail company, JSC Russian Railways that also offers the majority of locomotive traction.
The company’s logistic management aims to offer cost effective, reliable and flexible services to its customers whilst generating high profitability on its railcars. The company works with more than 500 clients located in Russia and the CIS countries and has an agreement with six leading companies that contributes 64% of the company’s net revenue from operation of Rolling Stock, it includes MMK, Metalloinvest, ChelPipe Group and TMK in the metallurgical segment and Gazoprom and Rosneft in the oil products and oil sectors. Further, it serves blue-chip companies such as TAIF, Evraz, UGMK-Trans and others.
The company operates through its subsidiaries that include BaltTransServis, SyntezRail, New Forwarding Company, GTI Management, Ukrainian New Forwarding Company, Spacecom and Spacecom Trans.
