The company also aims to bring investment opportunities often reserved for venture capital to the average investor. The company’s shares are traded on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange as LON: FFWD. It is core focused on disruptive high growth life science and technology businesses particularly within the medical cannabis arena.
The company’s portfolio of companies includes Leap Gaming, Yooma Wellness, Juvenescence, Portage Biotech Inc, Little Green pharma, South West Brands, Northern Leaf, Vemo Education and Factom.
According to the investment policy of the company, it principally invest in the wellness and life science industry (including biotech, longevity of life and pharmaceuticals) and technology industry (including digital delivery and artificial intelligence) that have potential to develop emerging intellectual technology that is believed to shape the future, the company’s diversified portfolio gives exposure of established industries where the business is applying new technologies to its shareholders. The company’s board may invest maximum of 15% of the company’s NAV to opportunistic investments which may not fall under the above criteria but has potential to generate short-term returns and would typically be in fundraisings by listed companies or as part of an IPO. The company invests mainly across North America and Europe but in case of attractive return generating opportunity, it may consider investing in other regions. The investment is focused on SMEs with sub £100-million valuation with future potential and the stake in these companies may range from minority positions to 100% ownership and will consist of multiple investments. It may invest in listed or unlisted companies through direct acquisition/investments; and may be in companies, partnerships, earn-in joint ventures, debt or other loan structures, joint ventures or direct or indirect interests in assets or businesses.
The company aims to maintain a balanced portfolio of early stage, pre-liquid event and liquid investments that are hold for 2-4 years, 6-24 months and up to 12 months, respectively, and there is no limit on investment in companies. The company currently does not prefer to use leverage to invest whereas investment in later stage assets is more likely to include an element of debt-to-equity gearing. To maintain cash for day-to-day working and for unforeseen contingencies it may also offer new Ordinary shares through consideration as well as or in lieu of cash.
