Social Network platform Parler has been banned by tech giants Apple, Amazon, and Google after the violent protest on Capitol Hill. The protest took the life of five people.

On Wednesday, the US President Donald Trump’s relentless effort to alter the 2020 Presidential election results took a dangerous turn when an armed and furious gang of his supporters stormed Capitol hill.  They clashed with police just as Congress organised to authenticate the presential win of Joe Biden.

In this protest, a woman was got fatally shot that resulted as supporters of Trump breached the barricades and entered into the hall of the building. They shattered windows and clashed with police officers.

Following the incident, Capitol Hill was placed under a lockdown.

About Parler

Parler is known as the most popular free application on Apple App store. However, the app was removed from the app store for insufficient policing of the content and encouraging violence and crime.

As per Parler, it is a neutral social media platform that encourages free expression. Over the past two years, the Company drew nearly 1 million users. It received support from the Trump administration, and its figures got doubled. As per Parler’s CEO, the business is yet not profitable. The business model is to distribute advertising via influencers. Parler takes a portion of the income generated by these influencers.

Besides, Parler launched a private messaging app.

The outcome of the violence

While Amazon and Apple suspended Parler from their app stores, Twitter suspended President Donald Trump’s account in the wake of the rampage in Washington. The action taken on President Donald Trump and Parler has increased the debate regarding the powers of these technology companies.

What Tech giants say about Parler?

Amazon noted a significant increase in the violent content on its website, which violates the terms and condition of the terms and conditions of AWS. The action taken by Amazon means that if Parler does not find another host, it would be offline on Sunday.

Apple also talked on the same lines on Saturday. It said that Parler had not taken appropriate measures to address the spread of the threat to people’s safety. The Cupertino-based iPhone maker added that Parler would remain suspended till these issues get resolved.

Google also suspended Parler from its app store till it addresses the need for robust moderation for offensive content.
