Australian low-cost airline Jetstar announced bumper sales on thousands of seats on its main domestic routes in New Zealand. The seats are priced as low as NZ$25 for one-way airfares on routes including Auckland to Christchurch. The carrier said that it had launched a big domestic sale offering 70,000 seats with price cuts. Ten thousand seats from which are being provided at NZ$25.

Jetstar sale is announced a day after New Zealand's national carrier Air New Zealand launched its domestic sale. Air NZ is offering flights starting across Aotearoa from around $49.

Special offer for peak season dates:

The special offer is also doled out during mid-February to late March in 2021 and early May to early July during the shoulder season. The airline believes that the dates will be beneficial for the domestic tourism operators as it is a peak season for international travellers to visit NZ.

The fares will also be available for the flights from outside school holiday dates in late July to late August.

To soothe the air traveler’s nerves during these testing times, the low-cost airline has recently introduced a new system, namely FareCredit.

FareCredit allows the customer to cancel their flight booking and provides a credit voucher, under such cases. FareCredit can be purchased during flight booking.

Jetstar price cut for the flights include:

  • Auckland - Wellington from NZ$25 one way
  • Christchurch - Wellington from NZ$25 one way
  • Auckland - Christchurch from NZ$25 one way
  • Auckland - Dunedin from NZ$55 one way
  • Auckland - Queenstown from NZ$59 one way

Enhanced safety measures:

As per the government announcement yesterday, all airlines flying domestically from Thursday will have to make mandatory requirements for passengers and the crew members to wear face masks and face covers.

Jetstar has introduced a range of safety measures in its "Fly Well" programme. The airline is taking precautions to create a safe environment at airports and onboard. The initiative is intended towards providing the passengers with extra peace of mind. "Fly Well" programme offers contactless check-in, and the airline is conducting enhanced cleaning to maintain hygiene. Face masks and sanitising wipes are provided to the passengers.

Operating in full swing:

The airline had suspended its operations in the New Zealand domestic air space for three months this year due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Jetstar, however, kickstarted its operations in June but was forced to shut down the services again in August. Jetstar is offering similar price cuts for the flights domestically operating in Australia as well.
