As students we often had the opportunity to visit cultural sites, heritage properties, museums and a lot more, however we feel that these museums are not just sources of entertainment, but also hold and throw light on the pristine timeline and culture of a country. They form the prominent source of identity for a city and are held and maintained as the pride of the nation.

The Australian sub-continent has seen and witnessed a lot of history in terms of war, mythology, heritage, and the same is well showcased in the country?s museums. These properties are not just galleries or centers, they are rather a detailed tour and a delight if you are an art and history lover.

  1. Australian War Memorial- Canberra

A shrine, a world-class museum, and an extensive archive are combined with the Australian War Memorial. The aim of the Memorial is to honor the memory of those Australians who died in war or military service, as well as those who served our country in times of conflict. Its mission is to lead the memory and understanding of the wartime experience of Australia.

Charles Bean, the official historian of Australia's World War I, first conceived of a museum memorial to Australian soldiers while witnessing France's battles of 1916. In May 1917, the Australian Department of War Records started to keep records of the war being waged at the time. Records and articles first appeared in Melbourne and then in Canberra.

The construction of the building was completed in 1941, after World War II ended, and it was officially opened by Governor-General Lord Gowrie on Remembrance Day, November 11, 1941.

The Great Aussie Beer Shed and Heritage Farm Museum was opened in 2003 and is one of Australia's most popular and exciting tourist attractions. Located just about three Kilometers away from the city of Echuca, the tour of this museum is sure to give you a nostalgic ride with its astounding display of? Aussie Icon paraphernalia which includes more than 17,000 can of beer originating from multiple cities, towns and countries around the world.

The Maritime Museum displays an arena of some of the most diverse in-water fleets, including the cold war submarine HMAS Onslow and the perfect replica of the HMB Endeavour from Captain Cook.

Every time you visit this place, they surprise you with their a constantly changing array of exhibitions, and that's not all, age isn't a barrier at the museum as they are equipped with a 3D theatre to keep all the ages entertained.
