Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) Ltd is a global producer of integrated circuits and semiconductors.
The company was founded as a pure-play foundry business in 1979, with its headquarters in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Presently, it is branched in Japan, South Korea, China, North America, Europe, etc.
With over four decades of history, it engages in the production and marketing of integrated circuits (ICs), semiconductors and provides various services such as wafer probing, wafer manufacturing, assembling and testing, designing services, mask production and designing.
TSMC also develops nanometer process technology, integrated IC chips, three-dimensional integrated circuits, image sensor technology.
The ICs manufactured by TSMC is used in consumer electronics, communication devices, personal computers, gaming devices, home appliances, medical and industrial equipment etc.
TSMC is reportedly the world’s largest semiconductor foundry and manufactures over 10,700 products using nearly 270 distinct technologies. It also produces power transistors, LED drivers, Trench Schottky’s diodes, Analog ICs and ESD protection devices.

The company claims to adhere to industry norms and environmental standards and is approved by the International Automotive Task Force, an automotive manufacturers’ group.
TSMC has reportedly recycled 133.7 MMT of water under its sustainable and environment-friendly policies. It also invests in energy conservation, waste reduction, water conservation and sustainable development.
Some of its competitors include United Microelectronics, Amkor, Tower Semiconductor, Intel and Qualcomm.
The company caters to four broad sectors, including technology, tech hardware, semiconductors and semiconductors sub-industry.
TSMC is listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange and the NYSE.
