Superior Gold Inc. is a publicly traded Canadian gold producing company that operates and owns Plutonic Gold operations in the goldfields of Western Australia. Its operations include:
• Several open-pit projects including Plutonic main pit push-back project
• Interest in the Bryah Basin joint venture (Hermes project)
Plutonic has continuously been producing since 1990 and it is associated with the production of around 6 million ounces of gold. The exploration company considers it to be one of the largest historic gold-producing properties in Western Australia.
Superior Gold is focused on increasing production at the Plutonic Gold operations for high returns for shareholders. Superior Gold acquired its flagship property, the Plutonic Gold mine, from Northern Star resources in October 2016.
The company owns a 100% interest in the operations at Plutonic Gold mines and owns an 80% interest in the Bryah Basin joint venture. The company trades its shares publicly on the TSX Venture Exchange under the symbol SGI.
The wholly owned Plutonic mine is in the Archaean Plutonic Marymia Greenstone Belt that lies 800 km NE of Perth and is considered one of the largest gold mines in Western Australia in terms of aggregate gold production.
Open pit mining on the project was initiated in 1990 and lasted till 2005 but underground mining has been ongoing since 1995. Reportedly, around 6 million ounces of gold has been produced from the mine’s open pit and underground operations since 1990.
The mine is capable of producing 100,000 ounces of gold annually. Superior considers the Plutonic mine relatively young compared to the other mines and districts in Western Australia that have been producing for more than 30 years.
As of 2021, the Plutonic mine produces gold from a huge underground operation through traditional grinding, crushing and carbon-in-leach-circuit. The exploration company demonstrates sustainability commitment in the form of policies, programs and initiatives towards communities, people, environment and its employees and workforce.
Superior Gold claims to have made a comprehensive environmental management system aligned with the requirements of ISO14001:2015. For detailed information about the mineral reserves and resources of Superior Gold, interested users can visit its website.
