Transcontinental Inc is a leading packaging solutions provider and premier printer based in Canada.

The company primarily operates in three reportable business divisions:
• Printing
• Packaging
• Others, including media business.

Under the Packaging Segment, the company produces various plastic products used in the packaging of consumer goods. The packaging process generally involves specialization in extrusion, printing, laminating, and converting.

The Canadian company also offers printing, pre-media, and distribution services.

Under the other segment, the company manages and operates the media sector, generating print and digital publishing revenue.

The packaging company caters to a broad customer base, including food companies, publishers, cataloguers, marketers, retailers, industrial, tobacco companies, dairy firms, etc.

Founder Remi Marcoux and two partners, Andre Kingsley and Claude Dubois, acquired a Montreal based printing company called Imprimerie Trans-Continental in 1976.

In 1978, the company rebranded itself to G.T.C. Transcontinental Group Ltd and added a second business sector to its operations: door-to-door flyer distribution.

It purchased a weekly newspaper Les Affaires and SIC magazine, in 1979 and added the Publishing segment to its diversified portfolio of business operations. In the same year, the company acquired Imprimerie Chartier, located in Montreal South Shore and followed expansion strategy in coming decades.

In 1982, the company opened a flyer printing plant in Ontario and acquired Revue Commerce, a business magazine published by the Chamber of Commerce of Montreal since 1896.

In 1985, the company got listed on Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and diversified its operation in the printing segment by acquiring two plants in Montreal. It also moved its business operations outside the boundaries of Quebec with the acquisition of Perry Graphics.

Between 1985 and 1990, the period was marked by a series of acquisitions and expansions, including Miami Valley Publishing, The Hockey News newspaper, InterGlobe Printing, and Noir Plus in Montreal. With these acquisitions, the company entered the commercial sheetfed printing market.

Transcontinental Inc is said to be Canada's largest flyer printing company.

In 1998, Transcontinental acquired Refosa, a Mexico-based commercial printer company. The company developed printing plants across borders, including in select Canadian provinces.

With successful acquisitions and expansions, the packaging company increased its presence in the United States and Columbia.

The company also developed a number of mobile applications in recent years, including P$ Mobile Service, a remote payment solution app. It also launched mobile website versions for roughly 160 weekly and daily newspapers.
