The corporation was founded in 1965 by Pierre Péladeau, a Canadian businessman, post acquiring Le Journal de Rosemont and launching Le Journal de Montréal, a local weekly newspaper.

The parent company operates in other divisions via different subsidiaries of Quebecor Media Inc.

The company offers a multiplatform that includes news media, book publishing, music recording, and cultural products like selling French-language books, television channels, magazines, film, advertising sales, and television production services.

The company’s Out of Home segment provides advertising space on bus shelters, buses and Téo Taxi cabs.

Quebecor’s Sports and Entertainment division engages in the production, dissemination, and promotion of sports and cultural event for the customers.

Quebecor’s Music division’s label Musicor is said to be a leading player in the entertainment industry. Other labels include Ste-4 Musique and Mario Pelchat's MP3 Disques.

The company is a manager of Videotron Centre in Quebec.

Teams Blainville-Boisbriand Armada and Quebec Remparts are majorly owned by Quebecor, post-approval from Quebec Major Junior Hockey League authority personnel. All shows produced by Quebecor are under the Gestev banner.
