BlackBerry (TSX:BB), An Undervalued Stock Or A Long-Term Performer?

Stocks of BlackBerry Limited (TSX:BB) surged as much as 10 per cent at 1:32 PM ET, on Wednesday, May 26.  In January this year, Reddit-based WallStreetBets community propelled frenzy buying of the software stock, leading it to a record high of C$ 36 apiece.

Later, the stock plunged almost 70 per cent during the tech market correction in February and March. However, the company remained focused on its operational shift from hardware to software, following partnerships with Amazon Web Services and IBM.

With the help of the above collaborations, the company expects to bolster its existing software products, along with an innovative smart vehicle systems.

However, Blackberry earnings may take at least two more quarters to reflect the results of these recent innovations and partnerships. Investors can choose to hold this stock for a long-term period.

Its year-to-date growth stands at 34.60 per cent, surpassing the bench market index, which has grown 9.50 per cent relatively.

Nearly 3.09 million shares changed hand in the first few hours of the trading session on Wednesday, compared to its 30-day volume of 2.46 million shares.

BlackBerry reported a quarterly loss of US$ 313 million in Q4 FY21, due to outstanding debt repayments. It also reported a loss of US$ 1.97 apiece attributed to the company’s shareholders.

However, the company posted good growth from Software as a Service (SaaS) products was guided by its innovative software products.

The stock has successfully breached its average moving multiple on May 26, representing an uptrend trajectory.
