As the fears over the spread of Omicron variant eased slightly, Canada's benchmark index made gains for the third consecutive day.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index jumped 148.88 points as sectors like Information Technology, Healthcare, and Financial made gains during the trading session on Thursday, December 23.
Investors regained confidence after a Statistics Canada report claimed that the economy grew 0.8 per cent in October and was in line with the expectations.

Wall Street Update
The US equity markets also made gains ahead of Christmas holiday, and the S&P 500 climbed 0.6 per cent to 4,725.79.
The Nasdaq increased 131.48 points and reached 15,653.37. Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average expanded by 0.6 per cent to 35,950.56.
Commodity Updates
Gold prices jumped 0.4 per cent to US$ 1809.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Brent Oil contract climbed around two per cent to trade at US$ 76.75 per barrel.
Currency news
The Canadian dollar remained strong, and it was up 0.2 per cent against the US dollar at 0.7805.
The US Dollar Index Futures weakened by 0.1 per cent to 96.015.
