Highlights

  • Graphite One has signed an engineering contract for its planned Ohio Active Anode Materials facility, advancing the project into the detailed execution phase.
  • The company secured a strategic industrial site in Conneaut, Ohio, with rail access, Great Lakes shipping connectivity, and existing high-capacity power infrastructure.
  • Phase One is targeted for Q4 2027, with initial production capacity of approximately 10,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) of anode materials.
  • Phase Two aims to expand output to 25,000 tpa of synthetic graphite and graphitization capacity by Q4 2028.
  • North American battery graphite demand is projected to exceed 620,000 tonnes by 2030, highlighting the need for additional domestic supply capacity.

Graphite One Inc. (TSXV:GPH) (OTCQX:GPHOF) has reached another milestone in its strategy to build a vertically integrated US graphite supply chain, announcing key progress at its planned Active Anode Materials (AAM) manufacturing facility in Conneaut, Ohio. The company has awarded an engineering contract and advanced site development activities, supporting its objective of establishing domestic production of battery-grade graphite materials amid growing demand from electric vehicles, energy storage systems, and defense applications.

Engineering Contract Moves Project into Execution Stage

Graphite One has entered into an agreement with an engineering firm to support the detailed design and optimization of manufacturing systems at the Ohio facility.

The engagement is expected to assist with equipment integration, construction readiness, commissioning activities, and manufacturing system design with focus on product quality, throughput optimization, energy efficiency and future expansion capability.

The company stated that this contract advances the project into detailed engineering execution from planning stage.

Strategic Ohio Site Continues to Advance

In May 2026, the company secured an industrial site in Conneaut, Ohio through an agreement with a subsidiary of CN Railway. The site provides access to high-capacity electrical services, Great Lakes shipping routes, and rail infrastructure.

The site is expected to support faster development timelines for energy-intensive synthetic graphite production while also providing scope for future expansion.

Geotechnical drilling has been completed at the site, while environmental assessments and permitting activities are now underway, with completion targeted for the first quarter of 2027.

GPH shares traded at CAD 1.04 per share on June 22, 2026.
