Highlights

  • Nationwide Connectivity Breakthrough: T-Mobile Starlink, now in public beta, brings satellite-based mobile service to over 500,000 square miles of dead zones.
  • Seamless Integration: No extra hardware required—smartphones automatically switch to T-Mobile Starlink when out of traditional coverage.
  • Open Beta & Pricing: Free beta access until July, with plans starting at $15/month for T-Mobile customers and $20/month for AT&T and Verizon users post-launch.

In a historic Super Bowl reveal, T-Mobile (NASDAQ:TMUS) introduced T-Mobile Starlink, a revolutionary satellite-based mobile service designed to eliminate coverage gaps across the U.S. The service, developed in collaboration with SpaceX’s Starlink, is now in public beta and promises to keep users connected even in remote areas where traditional cell towers fail.

T-Mobile Starlink’s network covers more than 500,000 square miles of dead zones—an area nearly twice the size of Texas. It uses Direct-to-Cell satellites, orbiting 200+ miles above Earth at 17,000 miles per hour, to provide text messaging today, with voice calls, data, and multimedia messaging coming later.

How It Works: Simple, Seamless, and Accessible

One of T-Mobile Starlink’s biggest advantages is its effortless integration with existing smartphones. Users don’t need any special equipment—when a device moves out of range of a traditional cell tower, it automatically connects to T-Mobile Starlink’s satellite network. Messages, including group texts and reactions, send and receive just as they would on a traditional network.

T-Mobile ensures accessibility by making the service compatible with most smartphones from the past four years, regardless of operating system.

Emergency Alerts for Enhanced Safety

Beyond everyday use, T-Mobile Starlink will broadcast Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEAs) nationwide, ensuring that even those in remote locations receive critical, potentially life-saving notifications. Whether hiking deep in the wilderness or facing extreme weather events, users will now have a lifeline when they need it most.

Pricing and Early Access

The beta phase is free until July, after which T-Mobile Starlink will be included at no extra cost for users on Go5G Next plans, Go5G Business Next, and T-Priority first responder plans. Other T-Mobile customers can add the service for $15/month per line.

For a limited time in February, T-Mobile is offering an Early Adopter Discount of $10/month per line, making it 33% off the standard price.

Open to AT&T and Verizon Customers

T-Mobile is extending its satellite-powered connectivity to users of competing carriers. During the beta period, AT&T and Verizon customers can try T-Mobile Starlink text messaging for free, with a $20/month per line plan launching in July.
