All the major U.S. stock market benchmarks closed lower on Monday, April 19, 2020. The S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped from their all-time highs set on last Friday. Technology and consumer cyclical stocks declined the most on S&P 500 while stocks in the energy and basic materials sectors pulled the Dow Jones down.
The S&P 500 slipped 0.53 percent to 4,163.26. The Dow Jones was down 0.36 percent to 34,077.63. The NASDAQ Composite Index dropped 0.98 percent to 13,914.77 while the small-cap Russell 2000 declined 1.36 percent to 2,232.00.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has reportedly started an investigation into a fatal crash involving a Tesla 2019 Model S vehicle in Texas during the weekend. According to media reports, no one was found in the driving seat. Tesla shares dropped 3.40 percent on Monday.
The Coca-Cola Company reported a 5 percent year-over-year growth in its net revenue to US$9.02 billion and said its volume in March was back to 2019 levels. Earnings per share dropped 19 percent to 52 cents, while comparable EPS rose 8 percent to 55 cents. The company also reiterated its full-year 2021 outlook.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin price, which rallied to over US$64,800 last week, tumbled to as low as US$52,148.98 on Sunday. The cryptocurrency recovered to US$56,262.20 by Monday evening.

Top laggards on S&P 500 were Penn National Gaming Inc (6.94%), Altria Group Inc. (6.17%), Enphase Energy Inc (5.91%) and Caesars Entertainment Inc (5.22%).
Tian Ruixiang Holdings Ltd (20.99%), Oriental Culture Holding Ltd (17.38%), LifeMD Inc. (17.25%), 180 Life Sciences Corp (16.53%) were among the top losers on NASDAQ.
On Dow Jones, Intel Corp (1.73%), Boeing Co (1.62%), Nike Inc. (1.30%) and Travelers Companies Inc (1.01%) were laggards.

Futures & Commodities
Gold futures were down 0.51percent to US$ 1,771.20 per ounce on Monday. Silver fell 0.90 percent to US$25.870 per ounce, while copper grew 1.70 percent to US$ 4.2390.
Brent oil futures decreased slightly by 0.03 percent to US$ 67.14 per barrel and WTI crude rose 0.55 percent to US$ 63.54.
Bond Market
The 30-year Treasury bond yields increased 1.47 percent on Monday to 2.296 while the 10-year bond yields were up 2.35 percent to 1.6100.
US Dollar Futures Index was down 0.52 percent to US$ 91.065 on April 19.
