Highlights
- Power Metal Resources secures the Pardoe Uranium Project through direct mineral claim staking.
- The project, located near the Athabasca Basin, features 33 km of geophysical conductors and multiple historical uranium occurrences.
- Fieldwork is planned for summer 2025, targeting five identified exploration areas.
Power Metal Resources plc (LSE:POW), the London-listed exploration company with a diverse global portfolio, has announced its acquisition of the Pardoe Uranium Project in northern Saskatchewan, Canada. The acquisition was made via mineral claim staking, emphasizing the company’s commitment to expanding its uranium exploration footprint.
Strategic Acquisition Through Claim Staking
The Pardoe Project, comprising 9,593.14 hectares, was acquired directly through Saskatchewan’s Mineral Administration Registry System (MARS). Mineral claims become available when previous owners fail to meet maintenance requirements, leading to competitive staking opportunities.
Power Metal’s technical partner, Fermi Exploration, successfully secured the project for a cost of CAD $6,116.94. The claims have an initial two-year term with no minimum spend requirements. Extensions beyond this term will require an annual investment of CAD $143,897.10.
Project Location and Geology
Pardoe is strategically located just 35 km southeast of the Athabasca Basin, a region renowned for uranium exploration, and 4 km from Provincial Highway 905. Its proximity to established infrastructure, including a privately operated field camp, adds logistical advantages to the exploration effort.
The geological setting of Pardoe includes:
- 33 km of inferred geophysical conductors, split into two parallel zones, identified through historical exploration.
- Regional geology characterized by metasedimentary gneisses and mylonite zones, which are often associated with uranium deposits.
- Significant north-south fault systems, where historical work has shown uranium enrichment potential.
The Pardoe property is surrounded by notable exploration companies, including Fission Uranium Corp, Skyharbour Resources, and ALX Resources, highlighting the area’s active uranium exploration ecosystem.
Exploration Plans
Although the project has seen sporadic exploration since 1966, there has been no significant systematic exploration to date. Historical work has included reconnaissance prospecting, sediment sampling, and various geophysical surveys.
Based on a review of historical data, Power Metal has identified five key target areas for focused fieldwork in summer 2025. These targets aim to leverage the project’s geological potential for uranium mineralization.
Positioning for Growth in Uranium Exploration
The Pardoe Project acquisition aligns with Power Metal’s broader strategy of targeting high-potential uranium assets near established exploration zones. With its location outside the Athabasca Basin and close to major geological structures, the project offers promising opportunities for discovery.
