Highlights:
- Rome Resources reports promising mineralisation in ongoing drilling at the Mont Agoma site in the DRC, particularly in hole 016A with a 67-meter zone of tin, copper, and zinc.
- Further tin and copper mineralisation has been observed in holes 017 and MADD10A, with significant cassiterite and copper zones encountered at various depths.
- The company believes the mineralisation pattern shows similarities with the San Rafael mine in Peru, supporting a positive outlook for future exploration.
Rome Resources Plc (LSE:RMR) has reported further encouraging signs of mineralisation from its ongoing drilling at the Mont Agoma site, part of its Bisie North projects in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The company highlighted a notable increase in tin widths along strike and at depth in the southeasternmost drilling zones.
Recent drilling results have shown significant findings, particularly from hole 016A, which was redrilled to a depth of 242.5 meters. This hole intersected a wide 67-meter zone rich in tin, copper, and zinc between 47 and 113 meters. Additionally, copper mineralisation was present in various intervals within and below the tin-polymetallic zone, extending to a depth of 220 meters.
These promising results build upon the company’s previous success with hole MADD10A, which intersected high-grade copper, zinc, silver, and tin. The ongoing drilling at hole 017 also revealed multiple tin-bearing intervals, with a concentrated cassiterite (tin) zone between 117 and 140 meters and a significant copper zone from 98 to 113 meters. Meanwhile, drilling at hole 018 is progressing through its initial stages.
Paul Barrett, Rome Resources’ chief executive, commented that the continuous flow of samples for assay analysis is encouraging, with the first batch already sent to ALS Johannesburg for testing. Barrett emphasized the promising nature of the initial assessments, noting a marked increase in tin mineralisation as drilling moves southeast and deeper into the site. He also highlighted the strong association of tin and copper in the area, which aligns with the company’s comparison to the San Rafael mine in Peru, which initially started as a copper mine before transitioning to tin.
The company’s ongoing exploration efforts at Mont Agoma suggest a significant potential for further discoveries, with both tin and copper mineralisation supporting a positive outlook for the Bisie North projects.
