Iofina PLC (LSE:IOF) has achieved a significant milestone with the commissioning of its newest IOsorb plant, IO#10, in Oklahoma. This development is a key step in the company's growth strategy, reinforcing its position as a major player in the iodine production industry.

The IO#10 facility, the seventh of its kind in Oklahoma, has successfully completed hydro-testing and is now circulating brine water through its system. Iodine extraction is expected to commence shortly, with production anticipated to ramp up over the coming weeks. The new plant is projected to yield 100-150 metric tons of crystalline iodine annually, substantially boosting Iofina’s output for the year.

CEO Dr. Tom Becker emphasized the significance of IO#10, noting that the plant is poised to make a meaningful impact on Iofina’s overall crystalline iodine production. “IO#10 represents a major milestone in our expansion efforts,” Becker said. “The new facility is set to contribute significantly to our production targets for the remainder of the year.”

In the first half of the year, Iofina reported a production of 276 metric tons of crystalline iodine from its six operational plants in Oklahoma, aligning with expectations. The company has also noted a more than 14% increase in crystalline iodine production compared to the previous period, with stable prices and a slight anticipated increase towards the end of the year.

Looking ahead, Iofina is preparing for further expansion with plans for a new iodine production plant, IO#11. Discussions with a preferred partner are underway, with preparations for construction to begin upon finalizing new brine supply agreements.

The ongoing expansion underscores Iofina's commitment to increasing its production capacity and consolidating its position in the iodine market. With IO#10 now operational and future projects in the pipeline, the company is set to continue its growth trajectory, supported by the robust brine supply in the region.
