Helium One Global (AIM:HE1), the leading helium explorer in Tanzania, is pleased to announce significant progress in its operations at the Itumbula West-1 (ITW-1) well. The company has successfully re-entered and deepened the ITW-1 well by an additional 168 meters, reaching a new total depth (TD) of 1129 meters measured depth (MD). This achievement was facilitated by excellent existing hole conditions, which allowed for smooth re-entry beneath the 9⅝" casing shoe and efficient deepening into the fractured Basement.
Encouraging Helium and Hydrogen Shows
During the deepening process, Helium One Global encountered near-continuous helium and hydrogen shows while drilling. These shows persisted to the TD and were significantly higher than those observed in the overburden section during Phase II. This increase in helium and hydrogen presence is an encouraging sign for the company's ongoing exploration efforts, suggesting a promising resource potential in the deeper sections of the well.
Upcoming Operations and Testing Plans
With the deepening phase successfully completed, Helium One Global is now preparing for the next stage of operations. This involves preparing the wellbore for the installation of a 7" slotted casing, which will be cemented in place. Following this, the company will run a completion string in the hole, consisting of tubing and packers. This setup will enable multiple testing of two key zones: the fractured Basement and the faulted Karoo Group, during the extended well test (EWT).
