Highlights
- New Aeromagnetic Data: High-resolution data confirms the size and intensity of the Juno magnetic feature.
- Focus on Intrusion-Related Gold Systems: Targeting gold and copper deposits akin to Havieron and Telfer.
- Planned Follow-Up Work: Additional gravity, lidar, and electromagnetic surveys to refine drill targeting.
Global Petroleum Limited (LSE:GBP) has announced promising findings from its recent Airborne Aeromagnetic Survey at its Juno project. This survey, which follows prior announcements in October 2024, has yielded high-quality, detailed results that have further advanced the company's exploration efforts in the area.
The focus of the exploration at Juno is on identifying Intrusion Related Gold Systems (IRGS), which are similar to the world-class gold and copper deposits found at Havieron and Telfer in Western Australia. The discovery of mineralization at Havieron was triggered by the identification of a strong magnetic anomaly, which also coincided with a gravity response. This discovery method has inspired Global Petroleum’s current strategy at Juno, where the company is targeting a similar magnetic feature in the northern region of its exploration license E08/3497.
The aeromagnetic survey, conducted in October 2024 using a fixed-wing aircraft at 50m line spacing, covered the northern portion of the Juno magnetic feature. The results have confirmed the location of the magnetic anomaly, highlighting its significant intensity and vast size. Notably, the new high-resolution data has revealed structures and features that were not visible in earlier, lower-resolution magnetic surveys, indicating a promising area for further exploration.
Global Petroleum has outlined its next steps, including the processing and modeling of aeromagnetic data from the southern part of the project area. The company is also planning a series of additional surveys, including detailed gravity, lidar, and electromagnetic studies, which will help refine its geological understanding of the area. Once these data acquisition efforts are completed, Global intends to prioritize the targeting of initial exploration drill holes, with the aim of advancing its search for gold and copper mineralization.
