Bradda Head Lithium Ltd (LSE:BHL), a North America-focused lithium development group, has announced significant progress at its San Domingo Project in Arizona. The company has received approval for a Notice of Intent (NOI) drilling permit for the Dragon Target, marking a crucial step in its ongoing exploration efforts. This new permit allows Bradda Head to establish up to 37 drill sites, pending the submission of a reclamation bond, providing a foundation for further testing of high-grade lithium mineralization.
Drilling at the Dragon Target
The Dragon Target at San Domingo has shown promising results from previous exploration, with channel samples containing up to 0.97% Li2O and rock chip samples reaching 7.99% Li2O. The new drilling campaign aims to target these high-grade, outcropping spodumene deposits, including the untested Dragon South and North areas. This represents a significant opportunity to expand on previous drilling campaigns and potentially increase the resource base at the project.
The approval of the NOI is a major milestone, as the Dragon Target is an area of high interest for the company due to its potential for high-grade lithium mineralization. Bradda Head is currently in the process of submitting a reclamation bond to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for final approval, with drilling expected to proceed once this is finalized.
Expansion Plans at Ruby Soho and Midnight Owl
In addition to the Dragon Target, Bradda Head has submitted a new NOI to the BLM for exploration at the Ruby Soho and Midnight Owl targets. This exploration will involve drilling at several key locations, including Ruby Soho, Midnight Owl, White Ridge, Jumbo, and Morning Star. The planned drill program for the first half of 2025 will focus on new shallow targets at Ruby Soho and Midnight Owl, as well as further testing of high-grade mineralization identified at the Thunder target.
Ruby Soho, located along a 330-meter-long pegmatite, has surface samples with up to 3.57% Li2O. Bradda Head plans to drill along the strike length of this pegmatite with 11 proposed drill sites. Meanwhile, Midnight Owl has been identified as a site with shallow, undrilled lithium-rich targets, offering the potential for easy extraction of spodumene mineralization. A total of 16 drill sites are proposed at Midnight Owl to test these shallow mineralization zones.
Artificial Intelligence in Mineral Sorting
In a bid to enhance its metallurgical processes, Bradda Head has initiated AI-driven mineral sorting work on high-grade composite core samples from the Jumbo Target. The results of this innovative approach are expected in the first quarter of 2025 and could provide valuable insights into the efficient extraction of lithium from the project’s deposits.
