Artemis Resources Ltd (ASX:ARV, LSE:ARV, OTCQB:ARTTF) has announced the appointment of renowned geologist and mining executive Julian Hanna as technical director elect, subject to LSE AIM market requirements. Hanna’s extensive experience in discovering and developing tier-one mineral deposits is expected to play a pivotal role in Artemis’ exploration and development initiatives.

Proven Leadership in Mining and Exploration
Julian Hanna’s career spans several decades, during which he has established a reputation for transforming junior mining ventures into significant producers. As managing director of Western Areas, Hanna guided the company from a start-up to a high-margin underground nickel miner and concentrate producer over 12 years. Western Areas was acquired by IGO in 2022 in a deal valued at approximately $1 billion.

Following his success at Western Areas, Hanna joined MOD Resources in 2013, where he spearheaded the consolidation of a 300-kilometre-long holding in Botswana’s Kalahari Copper Belt. Under his leadership, MOD Resources discovered two substantial open-pit copper deposits before being acquired by Sandfire Resources in 2019 for $167 million.

Exciting Opportunities at Artemis
Artemis Resources chair Guy Robertson expressed confidence in Hanna’s ability to enhance the company’s exploration efforts. “Julian will join the board at an exciting time as we focus on discovering new gold deposits, located near Artemis’ existing 374,000-ounce gold resource at the Karratha Gold Project,” Robertson said.

Hanna has already contributed to Artemis’ activities as a technical consultant, supporting the company’s gold exploration strategy. His expertise will be instrumental as Artemis targets several high-priority prospects in early 2025, including the Marillion EM anomaly and the Titan prospect.

Focus on the Emerging North Pilbara Gold Province
Hanna highlighted the untapped potential of Artemis’ extensive holdings in the North Pilbara region, an area rapidly emerging as a significant gold province. The company’s tenements are located along a wide structural corridor with minimal previous drilling, offering opportunities for future discoveries.

The Karratha Gold Project, in particular, presents advantages such as proximity to first-class infrastructure in Karratha and an experienced exploration team. High-priority targets for 2025 include:

  • Marillion EM anomaly: A large, conductive body offset by a fault from the eastern end of the Carlow gold resource.
  • Titan prospect: Known for high-grade rock chip samples from outcropping veins, with values exceeding 10,000 g/t gold.
  • Carlow deposit: Exploration will focus on high-grade gold and copper extensions at depth, along with Thorpe, Chapman, Europa, and Carlow North prospects.

Looking Ahead
With Hanna’s appointment, Artemis Resources is poised to advance its exploration activities and unlock value in its highly prospective tenements. The planned drilling campaign in 2025 aims to build on the company’s existing resource base while uncovering new opportunities in the promising North Pilbara gold province.
