Anglesey Mining PLC, a major player of Metals and mining sector has formally submitted an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Scoping Report for its Parys Mountain project to the North Wales Minerals and Waste Planning Service. This submission marks an important step in the environmental review process for the project.
The North Wales Minerals and Waste Planning Service, which evaluates mineral planning applications on behalf of the Isle of Anglesey Mining PLC (LSE:AYM) County Council and other councils in the North Wales Region, will review the report. The Scoping Report outlines the perceived impacts of the project and identifies significant issues that will be further examined in the final EIA report.
Project Details
The Scoping Report represents the initial phase of the EIA process and provides an indicative description of the project. This description is subject to refinement based on ongoing mining engineering studies, economic analysis, and consultations with local residents, the broader community, and other stakeholders.
Upon completion of the assessment, the scoping report will be made available on the Anglesey Council Planning Public Register.
On-Site Visit
Rob Marsden, Chief Executive of Anglesey Mining, participated in a monitoring visit and meeting at the Parys Mountain site on 13 August 2024. The meeting included discussions with the Senior Minerals and Waste Planning Officer.
Marsden noted that the submission of the Environmental Impact Assessment Scoping Report is a significant milestone for the Parys Mountain project. He emphasized that evaluating the environmental and social impacts, as well as the economic feasibility of mining copper, zinc, lead, silver, and gold from Parys Mountain, will be crucial for advancing the project through the necessary permitting processes.
