UK Market News: The UK stock market moved higher on Friday, with the blue-chip FTSE100 index up by over half a percent. Packaging stocks have boosted the index, with Mondi, DS Smith, and Smurfit Kappa being among the top risers, going up by over 3% each, while the investors are concentrating on countering the steeply rising costs.

Mondi plc (LON: MNDI): The shares of the Weybridge-headquartered packaging and paper company Mondi plc were up by 4.38%, with a day’s high of GBX 1,525.00. The company has recently introduced two sustainable packaging solutions for food products in Germany.

Smurfit Kappa Group plc (LON: SKG): The shares of the Dublin-headquartered packaging business, Smurfit Kappa Group plc, were up by 4.19%, with a day’s high of GBX 3,410.00. The company recently reported that its Q1 revenue and earnings in 2022 went up by a third.
