Standard Uranium Ltd (TSXV:STND) has announced the expansion of its Corvo uranium exploration project, situated in the eastern Athabasca Basin of Saskatchewan. This development comes through the staking of three new mineral claims, which increases the project's area from 7,989 hectares to 12,265 hectares.
Details of the Expansion
The expansion enhances the exploration strike length by 14.8 kilometers, concentrating on three magnetic low trends that align with electromagnetic conductors and intersecting faults. These features present favorable conditions for shallow drill targets, making the region highly attractive for further exploration efforts.
To further advance this initiative, a modern electromagnetic survey is set to take place in the fall of 2024. This survey aims to refine and enhance the understanding of the identified targets, providing a clearer direction for future drilling activities.
Historical Results and Findings
Historical data from the Corvo project indicates substantial uranium mineralization along an 800-meter strike length, located between two drill holes. Additionally, surface samples collected from the Manhattan Showing have revealed uranium concentrations as high as 59,800 parts per million (ppm). These findings underline the potential for significant uranium deposits in the area.
The recent expansion not only enhances the scale of the Corvo project but also positions Standard Uranium to leverage increased exposure to the southeastern Athabasca uranium district. This strategic positioning could facilitate further collaborative ventures or land deals, aligning with the company’s goal of diversifying its project portfolio.
Future Exploration Plans
The upcoming electromagnetic survey is anticipated to play a crucial role in identifying and defining drill targets for the 2025 exploration season. This proactive approach aims to maximize the prospects associated with the Corvo project while broadening the company’s array of uranium-focused properties.
With this latest development, Standard Uranium now holds ownership of 11 exploration properties, totaling 220,432 acres throughout the Athabasca Basin. This comprehensive portfolio supports the ongoing commitment to exploring and unlocking the region's uranium potential.
