Highlights
- Smooth Rock Ventures holds 100%-owned Nevada projects in the prolific Walker Lane Shear Zone, a recognised mineralised corridor.
- The Palmetto Project hosts an NI 43-101 inferred mineral resource of approximately 296,695 ounces of gold.
- The Giroux Project features extensive historical mine workings and high-grade nickel surface sampling results, reinforcing its drill-ready status.
Smooth Rock Ventures Corp. (TSX.V:SMRV) (OTC:SMRVF) is a TSX.V-listed company dedicated to advancing exploration and development projects within Nevada’s Walker Lane Shear Zone, a highly recognized structural corridor for gold mineralization. The company is focused on its 100%-owned projects in this prolific region, which has a long history of mining and exploration.
Operating in a Prolific Gold-Bearing Structural Trend
The Walker Lane Shear Zone extends southeast from Reno toward Las Vegas and hosts numerous past-producing mines, including Bodie, Borealis, Aurora, Pamlico, Mabel, Evening Star, Camp Douglas and Mindoro, all located near Smooth Rock’s current project portfolio.
The broader Walker Trend has a history of supporting silver, copper and gold production, such as the Comstock Lode silver-gold mine, the Candelaria silver-gold mines, and the Anaconda Copper mine — mines recognised for their historically high output.
Smooth Rock’s Palmetto and Giroux projects lie within Mineral County, one of Nevada’s notable high-grade mining districts.
Palmetto Project: Advanced Gold Asset with Resource Base
The Palmetto Project, held 100% by the company and subject to a 2% GSR, covers 116 unpatented claims across 2,217 acres. It is an advanced gold project supported by an NI 43-101 mineral resource estimate prepared by WSP Canada Inc.

Historical development and exploration to ~300 feet depth provide access to the high-grade Discovery Zone. The project has a substantial exploration history, with previous work conducted by companies including Newmont Gold, Phelps Dodge, Cambior, and Romarco Minerals.
Drill highlights from 2021 program include:
- 31.4 g/t Au over 6.5 m, including 44.3 g/t Au over 0.8 m, and 122.5 g/t Au over 1.1 m, from a depth of about 85m.
The company emphasizes significant potential for resource expansion in multiple directions.
Giroux Project: Nickel-Rich Historical Workings with Drill-Ready Status
The company has 100% ownership of the Giroux Project, which has seen eextensive historical workings including shafts, adits, sub-levels, and open pits. Historically, the site produced nickel, copper, silver, gold, and barite, with records indicating the highest-grade nickel production in Nevada’s history, according to Mining Districts and Mineral Resources of Nevada (Lincoln, 1923).
Regional surface sampling has yielded nickel values ranging from:
- 1.17% Ni to 3.9% Ni.
The project spans 49 claims across 980 acres, including 12 patented claims. It is positioned within the Candelaria Mining District, approximately 10 miles from Nevada’s largest open-pit silver producer. Previous exploration campaigns include prospecting, geological mapping, surface sampling and geophysical, establishing the project as drill ready.
