In the Mining sector, Midnight Sun Mining Corp has announced the commencement of an exploration program at the Kazhiba Target, which is part of its Solwezi Property located in Zambia. This initiative is a collaboration with First Quantum Minerals and aims to identify near-surface oxide copper resources.

Exploration Details and Objectives

The 2024 exploration program encompasses 3,000 meters of reverse circulation drilling, partial ionic leach sampling, and an induced polarization (IP) survey. The drill program is designed to target extensive copper oxide deposits, with drill holes expected to reach depths of approximately 50 meters. This exploration effort seeks to define resources that could potentially supply First Quantum (TSX: FM) 's Kansanshi Mine, situated less than 10 kilometers from the Solwezi Property.

Historical Findings and Current Promise

The Kazhiba target has previously demonstrated promising results, with earlier drilling campaigns identifying multiple high-grade copper oxide deposits. Notable intersections include 14.2 meters of 5.71% copper and 24 meters of 3.15% copper. These high-grade near-surface deposits present a strong case for further exploration and potential resource expansion beyond already drilled areas.

Strategic Collaboration and Future Plans

The cooperative exploration plan with First Quantum Minerals is an essential element of Midnight Sun Mining Corp (TSXV: MMA) 's strategy, allowing for a focused approach to unlocking the value of both sedimentary-hosted and oxide copper targets across its properties. The exploration efforts at Kazhiba and another target, Mitu, are anticipated to enhance production capabilities and contribute to cash flow.

The exploration team's proactive approach is reflected in the quick mobilization at the Kazhiba target, emphasizing the focus on high-grade oxide copper deposits that could serve as a valuable resource for nearby mining operations.

Midnight Sun Mining's exploration program at the Kazhiba Target represents a significant step forward in the company's efforts to capitalize on near-surface oxide copper resources. With the collaboration of First Quantum Minerals and promising historical data, the project is positioned to explore the full extent of its copper potential.
