Highlights:

  • Phenom Resources Corp. is advancing its Crescent Valley Gold Project in Nevada.
  • The project is strategically located within the Northern Nevada Rift, near the Carlin Gold Trend.
  • The Crescent Valley site features a prominent quartz vein system, similar to the historical SLEEPER Mine.

Phenom Resources Corp. (TSXV:PHNM) has announced the start of drilling operations at its Crescent Valley Gold Project in Nevada. This gold prospect is positioned within the Northern Nevada Rift, just southwest of the Carlin Gold Trend, one of the most renowned gold mining areas in the region. The company's project is focused on high-grade, bonanza-vein gold, making it a key asset within its portfolio.

Geological Features and Comparison to SLEEPER Mine

The Crescent Valley Gold Project's geological structure is highlighted by the presence of a significant quartz vein system. According to Phenom’s Geological Advisor, the project mirrors characteristics found in the SLEEPER Mine, which operated in Humboldt County, Nevada, during the late 20th century. The SLEEPER Mine was notable for its low-cost, high-grade gold production, primarily due to its bonanza vein and wall-rock gold content. This comparison suggests that the Crescent Valley site holds promising structural features similar to one of Nevada's historical gold mines.

Hydrothermal Breccias and Quartz Veins

The Crescent Valley site is characterized by a range-front vein system, which exhibits multi-phase, hydrothermal breccias. These breccias are found within zones that have experienced significant geological activity, where hydrothermal fluids have repeatedly deposited silica and other minerals. This has led to the formation of coarsely-bladed calcite and quartz pseudomorphs of the calcite. Additionally, banding in the veins and phreatic-type brecciation indicate areas where boiling hydrothermal fluids were present, typically occurring above zones where gold deposition may have taken place.
