Highlights

  • Arizona Gold & Silver Inc. reports promising metallurgical test results for the Philadelphia gold-silver project.
  • Agitation leaching achieves high gold extraction rates, while column leaching shows potential for further recovery.
  • The project demonstrates compatibility with regional heap leach operations.

Arizona Gold & Silver Inc., operating within the mining sector, has announced favorable outcomes from recent metallurgical testing at its Philadelphia gold-silver project in Arizona. The company, listed under the ticker (TSXV:AZS), focuses on the exploration and development of precious metal deposits in the region. This latest testing program has revealed promising results, particularly in the extraction of gold through different leaching processes.

Agitation and Column Leaching Performance

The company’s tests, conducted by McClelland Laboratories, centered on two bulk samples of oxidized material gathered from the project’s underground and surface workings. The primary objective of this program was to evaluate the viability of using heap leaching for gold recovery. The process, designed for material with lower gold concentrations, tested the effectiveness of various leaching methods under simulated conditions.

Agitation leach tests have shown a high potential for gold recovery, achieving extraction rates of over 90%. This method involves mixing the crushed ore with a cyanide solution, enhancing gold recovery from the ore. The tests demonstrated that this process is efficient across multiple grind sizes, indicating strong compatibility with the ore types present at the Philadelphia site.

Column Leaching for Heap Leach Conditions

In addition to agitation leaching, the company also tested column leaching, a method that simulates heap leaching conditions. This technique was used to assess how different crush sizes affect gold recovery, with results showing a clear improvement when the ore was crushed to finer sizes. The results indicated that the samples were well-suited for simulated heap leaching, supporting the potential for a larger-scale operation in the future.

The column leach tests revealed that gold extraction rates ranged positively depending on the crush size, with the finer particles achieving the highest recovery rates. This finding aligns with regional practices and suggests that the Philadelphia project may be compatible with existing heap leach operations, offering the company a strategic advantage.

Future Prospects and Operational Considerations

Arizona Gold & Silver Inc. expressed optimism about these findings, particularly in terms of how they align with other heap leach operations in the surrounding area. The compatibility of the Philadelphia deposit with these processes points to a promising future for the company’s efforts in gold recovery. While the focus remains on assessing the efficiency and scalability of the heap leaching method, the company hinted at potential future studies to compare operational costs for different processing methods.

The positive test results for agitation leaching further bolster the project’s prospects, showcasing the deposit’s ability to yield significant gold extractions with relatively low reagent consumption. This efficiency could lead to cost advantages and operational benefits as the project progresses.
