New Vessels Arrive to Support Energy Needs
The first of two advanced product tankers arrived in Saint John Harbour, ready to service the needs of Canada's largest refinery. Constructed at the Hyundai Mipo Shipyard in South Korea, these vessels were commissioned by Algoma and tailored specifically for Irving Oil's operational requirements. The Algoma East Coast is now operational, while the second vessel, the Algoma Acadian, is expected to join later in the season.
Strategic Collaboration Enhances Operations
Both tankers are equipped to navigate ice-class conditions and are registered under the Canadian flag, emphasizing a commitment to national maritime operations. Algoma Central Corporation’s President and Chief Executive Officer emphasized the significance of expanding the company’s tanker fleet and the positive collaboration with Irving Oil that made the project successful. The vessels will immediately commence energy distribution operations, further strengthening the regional supply chain.
