TSX Reclaims 19,000-Mark, Nexgen & Denison Top Movers

The barometer of the Canadian Stock Market, TSX Composite Index, gained 0.19% to 19,026.79 on Monday. Total volume traded on the same day was 214.19 million. TSX Venture Composite Index also witnessed a recovery of 0.04% to 961.25.

Three broad US market indices also showed positive momentum. The S&P 500 showed the recovery of 1.44% to 4,077.91. Dow Jones improved by 1.13% to 33,527.19 while the Nasdaq Composite Index showed the upward momentum of 1.67% at 13,705.59.

Volume Leaders: Toronto-Dominion Bank was the most active stock with 13.34 million shares trading hands, followed by TC Energy Corporation with 11.07 million and Suncor Energy Inc. with 7.78 million.

 

Money Market Update:

The yield for US 10-Year Treasury moved up by 0.12% to 1.70 however, the 10-Yr Government Bond Yield for Canada recorded upside of 2.78% to 1.55.

 

Commodity and Currency Update

The Crude Oil WTI Future recorded a decline of 4.29% to US$ 58.65/bbl on Monday while the International benchmark Brent Oil dip by 3.87% to US$ 62.15/bbl. Gold Futures prices showed a negative momentum of 0.10% to US$ 1,727.00.

The USD/CAD slipped to 0.35% to 1.25 on Monday while the US Dollar Index down by 0.49% with respect to other basket of currencies at 92.595.
