Century Lithium’s Angel Island project supplies lithium carbonate for commercial-grade LFP battery production
Direct lithium extraction pilot program in Nevada records high recovery efficiency
Company advances feasibility study and permitting under LIFE financing structure
Century Lithium Corp. (TSX:LCE) operates within the lithium sector and is listed on the TSX Venture Composite Index. The company is developing the Angel Island lithium project located in west-central Nevada, United States. This initiative is centered on a lithium-bearing claystone resource identified near the Albemarle Silver Peak mine, a long-standing lithium brine operation in North America.
Century Lithium holds full ownership of the Angel Island project and has completed a feasibility study as part of its pathway toward becoming a domestic lithium producer. The material extracted from the claystone deposit is processed at the company’s lithium extraction demonstration plant in Amargosa Valley, Nevada.
Battery Cell Milestone for Lithium Supply Chain
In recent developments, Century Lithium supplied lithium carbonate from its Angel Island project for use in lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells. First Phosphate Corp. Announced the successful production of commercial-grade LFP 18650 format battery cells using Century’s lithium carbonate. These cells also incorporated high-purity phosphoric acid and iron powder sourced from First Phosphate’s project in Quebec.
This outcome demonstrates the usability of material from Century’s extraction process in LFP battery technology. The collaboration highlights the integration of North American mineral resources for energy storage manufacturing and indicates a functional supply chain from raw extraction to final battery cell.
Pilot Program Delivers Key Efficiency Achievement
Century Lithium reported improved results from its direct lithium extraction (DLE) pilot program. Conducted at its Nevada-based demonstration plant, the program achieved significant lithium recovery rates. The company noted that the efficiency exceeded previous benchmarks and represents progress in the processing capabilities of its claystone resource.
The DLE process being trialed is designed to enhance recovery efficiency and reduce the environmental impact typically associated with conventional methods. These results are part of the company’s broader technical validation efforts for scaling up extraction processes.
Advancement Through LIFE Financing Structure
To support ongoing development activities, Century Lithium launched a non-brokered financing initiative under the Listed Issuer Financing Exemption (LIFE). This approach provides additional financial flexibility as the company proceeds with an updated feasibility study, finalizes its plan of operations, and moves toward compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
The proceeds from the LIFE financing will be directed toward activities aligned with environmental permitting and further technical assessments. These steps form part of the preparation for future development phases of the Angel Island lithium project.
Through these milestones, Century Lithium continues to advance the development of its Nevada-based asset, supporting broader efforts to establish domestic supply chains for critical battery minerals.
