Highlights
- Surefire has completed an 11-hole shallow RC drilling program at the Phat Boy Copper prospect in Western Australia.
- The drilling intersected 50m of disseminated and blebby sulphides intersected within volcanic rocks.
- The samples collected will be sent to the laboratory for XRF analysis.
Surefire Resources NL (ASX:SRN) has successfully completed its maiden drilling campaign at the Phat Boy Copper prospect, part of the Yidby East project in Western Australia. The drilling program intersected a 50-metre-wide zone of continuous disseminated sulphides in black volcanic rock.

Drilling campaign overview
The maiden drilling program comprised 11 shallow reverse circulation (RC) holes, totalling 672m across four target areas. The campaign focused on testing near-surface geochemical anomalies, as no geophysical surveys had been conducted prior to drilling.
Geological findings included –
- Dark volcanic clays, followed by fresh black volcanic rocks.
- Numerous sulphides occurrences.
- A significant increase in the specific gravity of rock samples where sulphides were observed.
All collected samples will be sent to the laboratory for XRF analysis, focusing on copper, cobalt, molybdenum, and rare-earth elements (REE).
Background and Exploration
The Phat Boy prospect is located in the southern part of exploration tenement E59/2426, where previous exploration identified native copper and sulphides within what is believed to be submarine volcanic rock formations.
In August and September 2024, the company conducted extensive soil sampling, uncovering four distinct geochemical zones of coincident zinc and copper anomalism.
SRN shares were trading at AU$0.004 apiece at the time of writing on 5 December 2024.
