Chariot Oil & Gas Ltd, Prominent player of Oil & Gas sector has announced that it is proceeding with drilling the main appraisal hole at its Anchois gas project, following the conclusion of operations on the Anchois-3 pilot hole. The pilot hole, aimed at evaluating the potential extension of the field’s resources, did not yield successful results and has been plugged. The focus has now shifted to the primary appraisal hole as part of the company’s ongoing development program.

Transition from Pilot Hole to Main Appraisal Hole

The Anchois-3 pilot hole was designed to explore the upside potential of the Anchois Footwall prospect. However, the drilling encountered water-bearing reservoirs rather than the anticipated gas reserves. This result led to the decision to cease further operations in the pilot hole and redirect efforts to the main appraisal well.

The main appraisal hole, currently in the sidetrack phase, is progressing according to the original drilling design. Preliminary analysis of this well suggests the presence of gas-bearing reservoirs within the B sands. This initial interpretation is promising, but further detailed evaluation is required to fully understand the potential of these findings.

Ongoing Drilling and Future Plans

Drilling operations are ongoing in the main appraisal hole to assess deeper targets and explore additional objectives. The main hole’s continued evaluation aims to refine the understanding of the gas reservoir and determine its commercial viability. The results from this well will be crucial for informing future development strategies and assessing the overall potential of the Anchois field.

The shift from the pilot hole to the main appraisal hole marks a key transition in Chariot Oil & Gas Ltd (OTC:OIGLF) ’s exploration efforts. While the pilot hole did not meet initial expectations, the focus on the main appraisal well aligns with the company’s strategic approach to advancing its exploration and development program.

Summary of Current Activities

  • Pilot Hole: Drilling encountered water-bearing reservoirs, leading to the plugging of the hole.
  • Main Appraisal Hole: Preliminary data indicates gas-bearing reservoirs in the B sands; further analysis underway.
  • Drilling Operations: Ongoing in the main hole to evaluate deeper objectives and assess overall field potential.

The results from the main appraisal hole will provide critical information for Chariot’s future development plans and contribute to the understanding of the Anchois field’s resource base.
