The tragedy is being described as the most fatal aviation incident globally in the past ten years. The number of civil aviation fatalities this year has reached more than 460 worldwide, Bloomberg News reported, citing data from Jan-Arwed Richter, founder of Jacdec, a German consulting firm that tracks aviation safety. The average in the past decade is 284 based on the firm’s methodology.
