Intercede (LON:IGP), a leading cybersecurity software company known for its expertise in digital identities and strong authentication, has announced a strategic partnership with Microsoft to advance FIDO Passkey management in the enterprise sector. This collaboration aims to integrate Intercede’s Credential Management Systems with Microsoft Entra ID, creating a streamlined approach for managing FIDO Passkeys.
FIDO Passkeys, a critical component in modern authentication, offer significant advantages such as phishing resistance and cross-platform usability. The new partnership leverages Intercede's MyID CMS to manage these passkeys seamlessly. Administrators will now have the capability to create and register FIDO Passkeys on behalf of users, including those using devices like Yubikeys or smartphones. Once managed through MyID CMS, these passkeys can be utilized within Microsoft Entra ID for secure user authentication.
This development is particularly noteworthy as it helps organizations meet stringent security requirements, such as those outlined in US federal government legislation including FIPS 201 and SP 800-63. By enabling passkeys to be managed similarly to PKI-based devices, the integration supports the highest levels of security assurance.
Allen Storey, CPO at Intercede, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the transformative impact of the collaboration. "Many of our customers have sought to incorporate FIDO passkeys into their authentication strategies due to their phishing-resistant capabilities and multi-platform support. Previously, integrating credential management systems with Entra ID for passkeys was a challenge. Our partnership with Microsoft removes this barrier, allowing organizations to benefit from stronger, managed authentication solutions."
Looking ahead, the partnership is progressing rapidly. A preliminary version of the implementation is expected to be demonstrated within the next two weeks. Additionally, the full availability of the provisioning API will be included in the upcoming release of MyID CMS v12.12.
This innovative collaboration between Intercede and Microsoft marks a significant advancement in enterprise security, paving the way for more robust and efficient authentication methods.
