Quadrise Plc (LSE:QED), a leader in innovative energy solutions aimed at creating a cleaner planet, has announced a significant development in its mission to combat climate change. The company has signed an agreement with the European Climate, Infrastructure, and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) and SEASTARS, a consortium of 17 companies, which includes Quadrise.
The SEASTARS initiative brings together an impressive group of stakeholders, including research institutes, equipment manufacturers, ship operators, technology providers, and naval architects. The consortium is focused on achieving substantial greenhouse gas emissions reductions of at least 30% and improving energy efficiency by 20% in the maritime sector. This will be accomplished through the integration of various emerging marine technologies aimed at reducing emissions and enhancing efficiency across the industry.
The SEASTARS project is focused on integrating cutting-edge technologies into eight vessel designs, which will be designed to meet stringent environmental standards and be ready for commercial use by December 2027. Among the technologies incorporated into the project is Quadrise’s "Blend-On-Board" emulsion technology, which aims to significantly reduce emissions from ships by optimizing fuel consumption. This project is funded by CINEA’s Horizon grant programme, which aims to promote environmental and technological advancements in European industries.
As part of the agreement, Quadrise has been awarded up to EUR 63,500 to support the development and implementation of its technology within the SEASTARS framework. This funding will be used to enhance the company’s efforts in creating more sustainable solutions for the maritime industry.
After the vessel design phase is completed, SEASTARS will provide customized decarbonisation recommendations for vessel owners and operators. These recommendations will be designed to assist shipping companies in adopting new technologies and strategies that will help them meet international emissions standards and improve their operational efficiency.
