The NFTs (non-fungible tokens) has taken the cryptocurrency market by storm. Today, the token-art market is booming and especially in 2021, it has reached a new paradigm. With price of conventional cryptocurrencies constantly fluctuating, enthusiasts have found NFT as a perfect place wherein they can earn some good rewards for their investments. Especially in the art space, the NFT has become an instant hit as many artists have found a way to connect with their fans in a more meaningful manner.

Sports clubs too, in fact, are venturing into NFTs as they have found a unique way to keep the fans engaged and earn revenue in the process. Just recently, top football clubs like Inter Milan, AC Milan, Juventus etc have partnered with Socios to engage the fans through fan tokens which can be traded between users. Among the artists it has become a hit as now artists have found a way to copyright their collections in a digital manner. The growing list of celebrities have been growing by the day and more and more are joining the bandwagon.

Today the NFT market cap stands at US $36,112,152,509 with a volume of US $4,985, 704, 680 according to CoinMaketCap.

Let have a look at the celebrities who are joined the NFT craze. 

Jack Dorsey 

Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter and Square, sold his first tween as an NFT in March. His 15-year-old tweet simply said “just setting up my twttr” was an instant hit and was sold for a whopping US $2.9 million. Dorsey donated the money to GiveDirectly, a charity helping those in poverty, benefitting its COVID-19 response in Africa.

Eminem 

One of the biggest names in the music industry, Eminem has embraced the NFTs with his collection of ‘Shady Con’, which became an instant hit with his followers. Partnering with Nifty Gateway, the rapper released his track after feeling that he didn’t have a market to sell his collections. 

Paris Hilton

One of the biggest names in the Hollywood industry, Paris Hilton has embraced the NFTs with open arms. Hilton in April this year, along with designer Blake Kathryn, launched her unique collection of NFT. The collection was sold for a record US $1.1 million. Praising the democratisation of art, Hilton had said that he would like to explore new media places for investment purposes.

Grimes  

With pop artists increasingly finding a unique way to sell their albums, NFTs have become one of the favourite mediums to copyright their collection. Experimental music artist Grimes made her NFT debut when she released 'WarNymph'. The artist sold her collection of 10 pieces of digital art on a one-of-a-kind Nifty Gateway. Grimes pocketed $6 million in less than 20 minutes with her ‘Death of the Old’ vouching US $389,000.

Snoop Dogg  

Pop star Snoop Dogg ventured into the NFT space in March 2021. With a collection of eight pieces, the popular rapper showcased his original track ‘NFT’ and limited collection of ‘Snoop Doge chain’. Terming NFT as an amazing innovation, Snoop Dogg said it’s one of the revolutionary ways in which artists can connect with their fans. He sold his NFT collection on Crypto.com.   

Ellen DeGeneres

Popular host of American television Ellen DeGeneres’ first NFT sale raised US $33,495 for charity. She auctioned the physically drawn image of a cat on NFT site Bitski. DeGeneres contributed her NFT earnings to World Central Kitchen, the food-relief organisation. Although it didn’t garner much of an interest as the others, but it definitely made the celebrity to consider it in near future.

Lindsay Lohan 

Pop icon Lindsay Lohan auctioned her first single of 2021 titled ‘Lullaby’. It garnered US $85,000 on FansForver. Lullaby is a collection of songs with Lohan being animated as butterflies. Lohan termed the NFTs as history in making and she predicts that the future of entertainment will be rooted through the NFTs.

Steve Aoki

DJ Steve Aoki embraced NFT with a strong belief that it’s here to stay. Aoki, partnering with Antonio Tudisco, to create the “Dream Catcher.” It helped him pocket more than US $4.29 million and is looking forward to release his second set along with motivational speaker Tom Bileus for “Neon Future” NFT set.

Shawn Mendes 

Shawn Mendes joined one of the biggest marketplaces for NFTs OpenSea with the collaboration of Genies to auction his unique set of wearables. Seeing the success of Mesut Ozil, Mendes sold virtual guitar, vest, earrings. Mendes donated the earnings to Shawn Mendes Foundation Wonder Grants.
