The year 2019 has a year of records of sorts for the companies of London Stock Exchange paying high dividends. The year though was marred by tepid performance both in terms of corporate results and the British economy as a whole performing poorly. Partly on account of companies not able to deploy surplus funds on account of Brexit uncertainty and a weak Pound sterling, high dividends were paid out, leaving the investors flush with cash and happy while environment all around was gloomy.
