US Markets: Broader indices in the United States traded on a mixed note - particularly, the S&P 500 index traded 0.19 points or 0.01 per cent higher at 3,673.01, Dow Jones Industrial Average Index declined by 60.79 points or 0.20 per cent lower at 30,008.02, and the technology benchmark index Nasdaq Composite traded higher at 12,392.29, up by 53.33 points or 0.43 per cent against the previous day close (at the time of writing, before the US market close at 10:45 AM ET).
US Market News: The Wall Street traded on a mixed note as the investors looked for stimulus. The US weekly jobless claims were 853,000 for the week ended 5 December against 730,000 expected. Among the gaining stocks, Chevron rose around 2.9% and gained the most on the DOW 30 index. Moderna was up by around 1.0% after it began the study of its covid-19 vaccine candidate. Among the decliners, Doordash was down by nearly 5.6% after it made its debut on Wall Street on Wednesday. Ciena slipped by about 2.6% after it reported adjusted quarterly earnings of 60 cents. Walt Disney declined by around 0.1% after it announced the planned movie content.

European News: The London and European markets traded in the red as Brussels announced emergency plans in the event of no-deal Brexit. The UK GDP increased by 0.4% month on month in October 2020. The UK construction output declined by 7.5% year on year in October 2020. Among the gaining stocks, DS Smith gained about 2.4% after the company announced the interim dividend of 4 pence. BP was up by around 1.8% after it expanded a renewable energy deal with Amazon in Europe. Rio Tinto was up by approximately 1.6% after it announced maiden ore reserves at Jadar. Among the declining stocks, Ocado declined by nearly 6.2% after it expects full-year EBITDA to be over £70 million. Shares of Aveva slipped by approximately 1.2% after it announced the results of the rights issue. Anglo American was down by around 0.3% after it appointed Hilary Maxson to the board.
