BT Group Plc (LON: BT.A) and Royal Mail Plc (LON:RMG) have requested the Government to vaccinate their engineers and postal workers for Covid vaccinations.
- The Communication Workers Union, which represents the employees of both companies, has asked the government to publish a plan for vaccination.
- The government has identified the top four priority groups and will aim to vaccinate them by mid-February.
- The list, which has nearly 13 million people, have senior citizens (aged over 70), care home residents and healthcare workers. After them, citizens over the age of 60 and those in other high-risk categories will be inoculated.
- It was reported that the executives of Royal Mail and representatives of Openreach, BT’s infrastructure arm had asked Westminster’s approval to put their employees up on the priority list for the vaccination.

- In a separate development, it has been reported that Royal Mail Plc will name Simon Thompson as its next chief executive in the coming days replacing interim chairman Keith Williams, who will revert to a non-executive role.
- On 11 January 2021, the stocks of Royal Mail Plc (LON: RMG), traded lower by 0.11% from its previous closing, hovering at around GBX 359.90 at 11:40 AM GMT+1.
- The stocks of BT Plc (LON: BT.A), traded lower by 0.87% from its previous closing, hovering at around GBX 141.60 at 8:37 AM GMT+1.
