Rome, 10 March 2025. Pi School is pleased to announce the development of EVE, Earth Virtual Expert, a cutting-edge Large Language Model with expertise in Earth Observation (EO) and Earth Sciences. This project is supported by a €1 million budget from the European Space Agency's Φ-lab.

EVE is a digital AI expert capable of answering complex Earth Sciences questions using reliable data and natural language, developed by Pi School in collaboration with Imperative Space. It is part of the ESA Φ-lab #AI4EO initiative to revolutionise data-driven insights for science, the environment, and society.

“At Pi School, we believe AI can transform how we understand our planet. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in bridging AI and EO,” said Isabelle Andrieu, CEO at Pi School. “EVE is set to make insights more accessible and impactful and ensure that Earth Observation knowledge is available to everyone, from experts to the general public.”

"Pi School's expertise in AI development, combined with our vision for the future of Earth Observation, makes this collaboration a powerful step toward building innovative solutions that will enhance global access to critical EO knowledge," said Nicolas Longépé, Earth Observation Data Scientist at ESA Φ-lab and the leader of the EVE project.

The project will feature a user-friendly web platform and an API for development applications, enabling seamless integration and accessibility for researchers, policymakers, and industry professionals. ESA Φ-lab's long-term vision is to develop an EO digital assistant, making complex EO data accessible to anyone interested in accurate information about Earth Observation topics worldwide.
