  • Comprehensive air core drilling campaign uncovers extensive TiO₂ zones

  • Uniform mineralisation observed at two principal prospects

  • Scaling metallurgical evaluation to refine concentrate quality

The mining sector feeds industrial growth by sourcing key materials, including titanium minerals used in pigment and aerospace applications. Exploration enterprises focus on unearthing and developing deposits that can bolster supply chains. Empire Metals Ltd (LSE:EEE) has advanced its exploration programme at the Pitfield Project in Western Australia, reporting fresh insights into titanium dioxide occurrences.

Drilling Campaign Expands Resource Footprint

A recent air core campaign at Pitfield saw numerous drill holes completed across the Thomas and Cosgrove zones, extending the known mineralised area. These operations covered an extensive section of the weathered deposit, confirming the presence of titanium dioxide within the upper regolith. Field teams documented rock intervals from surface, establishing a broad foundation for follow-up studies.

Grade Consistency Across Prospects

Core sampling produced consistent titanium dioxide grades that align with market-acceptable benchmarks for pigment and industrial use. At Thomas, intervals returned a uniform concentration that underlines deposit continuity, while Cosgrove exhibited robust mineralogy through the laterite profile. Both areas revealed mineralisation in the weathered cap, indicating a favourable environment for titanium enrichment.

Applications of Titanium Dioxide

Titanium dioxide serves as the primary feedstock for high-performance pigments, corrosion-resistant coatings and lightweight metal alloys. The high-grade material from Pitfield may support pigment-grade production or premium slag operations. Its use spans architectural paints to aircraft components, underscoring the strategic relevance of reliable feed sources for these advanced manufacturing sectors.

Metallurgical Testwork Initiated

Empire Metals has dispatched bulk samples to processing laboratories to conduct enhanced metallurgical assessment. These studies will evaluate gravity separation, magnetic recovery and flotation protocols tailored to Pitfield’s mineralogy. Early-stage laboratory results will guide optimisation of process parameters, targeting improved yields and product grades suitable for commercial production.

Strategic Implications for Empire Metals

With regulatory approvals in hand and stakeholder engagement ongoing, Empire Metals is poised to advance into resource definition and pre-development studies. The combination of thorough drilling data and metallurgical outcomes will inform project economics and underpin discussions with potential offtake parties. As global demand for titanium remains elevated, the Pitfield Project may emerge as a key contributor to Western Australia’s mineral exports.
