Highlights

  • GameStop, which lately launched an NFT marketplace, is all set to launch its own collection titled GMERICA
  • For the GMERICA NFT collection, GameStop has joined forces with NFT artist, 1TZAH
  • Afterparty, which connects artists and fans, has an NFT collection titled Afterparty Utopians

The crypto and NFT world can be volatile, however, it has its share of enthusiasts who keep tabs on new developments. One such recent development is the launch of a new crypto titled Dogechain (DC). Interestingly, while meme coin Dogecoin has lost value over the past week, Dogechain -- which seems to be exploiting Dogecoin’s popularity – has surged.

In the NFT verse as well, new launches are keeping enthusiasts busy. One such launch is the GMERICA NFT collection by GameStop. Notably, GameStop only recently entered into the NFT world as a marketplace. Another NFT trending right now is Afterparty. Let us explore both.

GMERICA NFT

GameStop -- which serves as a marketplace for new NFT mints and launches -- is set to soon have its own first NFT collection. The GMERICA NFT collection is built in collaboration with a digital artist that goes by the name of 1TZAH.

GameStop NFT has tweeted about the launch of this collection amid listings of other projects like Herbertonic on its marketplace. Notably, the LimeWire NFT marketplace, which was launched this year just like GameStop’s marketplace, has its own ‘Originals’ NFT collection. As of writing, the LimeWire Originals collection has a floor price of US$375 and there are 1200 items listed.

There is not a lot of information on the GMERICA NFT collection right now. It is supposed to be the first collection by GameStop NFT. The video game retailer, which became a popular ‘meme stock’ during the COVID-19 pandemic, entered into the NFT space in July 2022.

Afterparty NFT

Afterparty, as the name suggests, has features like music experiences in a Web 3.0 setting. The project bills itself as a “creator community platform” by acting as a bridge between content creators and fans. American musician Lauv was reported as having used the Afterparty platform to connect with fans earlier this month. Rapper Yung Gravy’s event is now scheduled for September.

According to OpenSea, Afterparty’s NFT collection has a floor price of 5 ETH tokens as of writing with 309 items listed. The collection is titled Afterparty Utopians, and the digital assets have been described as a “pass to all things Afterparty”.

Expensive NFTs

Neither LimeWire’s Originals nor Afterparty Utopians could match the success of names like Beeple in the field of NFTs. Beeple and Pak are two of the bestselling NFT artists. GameStop’s GMERICA NFTs might also find it very difficult to match prices of Beeple’s artworks.

Bottomline

The GMERICA NFT collection by GameStop is the marketplace’s first, for which it has collaborated with artist 1TZAH. It will be launched soon and more details on the price will then become clear. Afterparty Utopians NFTs currently have a floor price of 5 ETH tokens.
