Sage Potash (TSXV: SAGE) Advances Critical Mineral Strategy with Major Drilling Program

The drill bit is now turning at Sage Potash Corp.'s (TSXV:SAGE | OTCQB:SGPTF) Sage Plain Potash Project in Utahs Paradox Basin. After months of planning, mobilisation and site preparation, the company has started a drilling program designed to test its principal potash targets and generate the technical data required for the projects next stage.

Drilling commenced on July 8, 2026, marking another step in Sage Potashs efforts to advance a domestic source of a mineral considered essential to American agriculture and food security.

Inferred Mineral Resource Highlights Strengthen Project Potential

The Sage Plain Potash Project hosts a significant inferred mineral resource estimate across the Upper and Lower Cycle 18 potash horizons. The September 2025 estimate identified a combined 298.1 million tonnes of inferred mineral resource, comprising 169.9 million tonnes from the Upper Cycle 18 member and 128.2 million tonnes from the Lower Cycle 18 member.

The Upper Cycle 18 horizon covers a net area of 11.25 km, with an average thickness of 7.26m and an average KCl grade of 46.07%. The Lower Cycle 18 horizon also spans 11.25km, with an average thickness of 5.46m and KCl grade of 35.77%. These resource characteristics provide a foundation for potential resource expansion, engineering studies and future mine planning as Sage Potash advances technical evaluation of the project.

Core Program Targets Resource Data

The drilling program includes continuous potash core recovery for laboratory assays. Testing will determine potash grades and mineralised thicknesses within the targeted horizons.

Results from the assays are intended to support an upgrade of the Sage Plain Projects potash resource estimates. The resulting data will also help position Sage Potash to progress engineering and development work.

Beyond grade and thickness analysis, the recovered core will undergo testing for geo-mechanical properties. These results will provide information required for future mine design and planning.

Water Testing Adds Another Technical Layer

The program also includes hydrogeological testing across shallow and deep aquifers. This work will assess potential water sources relevant to the projects future development.

Detailed core logging, sampling and assay preparation will take place at SRC Laboratory in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The facility specialises in potash ore analysis.

Sage Potash CEO Pat Varas said commencing drilling followed several months of planning and execution involving the project team, contractors and service providers. He described the program as an important step in the continued development of Sage Plain.

Cycle 18 Takes Centre Stage

The Paradox Basin covers several potash-bearing horizons. Sage Potashs current program is primarily targeting the Cycle 18 Upper and Lower beds.

The company is advancing the project using industry-standard solution-mining techniques as it works towards expanding the resource and progressing engineering. The program comes as the US imports more than 95% of the potash required by farmers annually. Potash was designated a critical mineral by the White House in March 2025.

Attention will now turn to drilling progress, core recovery and laboratory results from the Cycle 18 Upper and Lower beds. Potash grades, mineralised thicknesses, geo-mechanical analysis and hydrogeological testing will provide the technical foundation for the projects next steps. These results are expected to guide potential resource upgrades while supporting further engineering, mine design and development planning. As drilling advances towards the targeted horizon, Sage Potash continues to assess Sage Plains potential contribution to domestic US potash supply.

Shares of SAGE last traded at CAD 0.10 on July 27, 2026.
