Galiano Gold (TSX:GAU) Announces High-Grade Discoveries in Abore 2025 Phase 2 Drilling Program

3 min read | August 20, 2025 11:01 PM EDT | By Sonal Goyal

Highlights:

  • Galiano Gold’s Phase 2 drilling at Abore identified multiple high-grade ore shoots in the South and Main zones, extending mineralization over 400m.

  • A new high-grade zone was discovered at Abore North, with intercepts including 23m at 6.8 g/t gold from 240m.

  • The Abore drilling program will expand into 2026 to increase drill density, grow Mineral Resources, and evaluate underground mining potential.

Galiano Gold Inc. (TSX:GAU) (NYSE American:GAU) has provided an update on its ongoing Abore 2025 Phase 2 drilling program at the Asanko Gold Mine in Ghana, West Africa. Recent drill results have identified multiple high-grade ore shoots across the Abore South and Main zones, as well as a new high-grade discovery at Abore North beneath the existing Mineral Reserve and Resource.

The Phase 2 program, which is approximately 75% complete, was designed to test for extensions of mineralization below the current Mineral Reserve and Resource over a 1,600-metre strike length. To date, 31 of the planned 40 holes have been drilled, representing about 10,000 metres of drilling. The program is advancing under budget and ahead of schedule.

Abore South and Main Zones: Multiple High-Grade Intercepts

One key objective of the Phase 2 program was to test continuity of mineralization in the saddle area between Abore South pit and Abore Main pit. Drilling has confirmed the continuation of mineralization along low-angle ore shoots, extending the high-grade zone over a strike length of approximately 400 metres.

Notable intercepts include:

  • 17.5 metres at 3.0 g/t gold from 241m (Hole ABDD25-354)

  • 19.9 metres at 2.3 g/t gold from 215m (Hole ABPC25-361)

  • 30.6 metres at 2.9 g/t gold from 148m, including 17m at 4.5 g/t gold (Hole ABPC25-380)

  • 46 metres at 1.7 g/t gold from 225m, including 13m at 2.8 g/t gold (Hole ABDD25-374)

  • 34 metres at 1.6 g/t gold from 210m, including 8m at 3.7 g/t gold (Hole ABDD25-377)

These ore shoots remain open along strike and down plunge, with additional drilling planned. A south-dipping structure connecting the two north-plunging ore shoots has also been identified, highlighted by Hole ABDD25-384, which intersected 16.4m at 5.3 g/t gold from 189m.

Abore North: New High-Grade Discovery

At the northern end of the deposit, drilling has uncovered a new high-grade zone approximately 75 metres below the existing Mineral Resource. Hole ABDD25-388 intersected 23 metres at 6.8 g/t gold from 240m. Further drilling is underway to define the size and orientation of this discovery, which remains open in all directions. Additional intercepts at Abore North include:

  • 11 metres at 2.3 g/t gold from 189m and 7m at 2.6 g/t gold from 208m (Hole ABPC25-375)

  • 5.2 metres at 5.5 g/t gold from 266m and 5m at 3.0 g/t gold from 279m (Hole ABDD25-387)

Next Steps

The Abore 2025 drilling campaign will extend beyond Phase 2 into 2026 to increase drill density below the current Mineral Resource and expand Inferred and Indicated categories. The program will also test further continuations of high-grade mineralization along strike and depth, with five to six drill rigs expected to be active.

Galiano is also evaluating underground mining potential at Abore, with studies underway to define an optimal transition depth from open pit to possible underground development.
