Highlights
- West Red Lake Gold identifies multiple high-caliber geochemical anomalies on its Madsen property in Ontario.
- Six anomalous areas with gold and base metal signatures, including the North Shore target, identified for follow-up.
- The Confederation Assemblage rocks present significant potential for new discoveries and drilling in 2025.
West Red Lake Gold Mines Ltd. (TSXV:WRLG) is pleased to announce the results from its 2024 regional surface mapping and geochemical sampling program at the Madsen Property, located in the Red Lake Gold District of Northwestern Ontario, Canada. The Madsen Property is 100% owned by WRLG and is located in a highly prospective region known for its gold mineralization.
The program, which focused on the underexplored Confederation Assemblage of rocks, has yielded encouraging results. The Confederation rocks, known for hosting significant gold mineralization in the district, have remained largely unexplored until now. This is the first phase of work WRLG has completed in this area, and the results are promising.
Key Program Highlights
- Exploration Focus: The program targeted the Confederation Assemblage of rocks, which is known to host gold mineralization in the Red Lake district, including nearby projects such as Kinross Gold’s Great Bear Project, located approximately 24 kilometers southeast of Madsen.
- Sampling and Mapping: The program included the collection of 1,460 till samples, 42 channel samples, and 69 representative lithologic samples to support geological mapping.
- Anomalous Areas Identified: Six significant geochemical anomalies were defined, exhibiting a geochemical signature of Au-W-As-Ag-Bi, similar to the signature found in Madsen-style alteration and mineralization. This signature is a key indicator of gold mineralization in the region.
- North Shore Anomaly: One of the most compelling targets identified is the North Shore anomaly, which has already demonstrated high prospectivity based on limited drilling conducted in 2024. This anomaly’s association with the Russet Lake Ultramafic (RLUMAF) adds to its potential. Notably, the area beneath the strongest part of the anomaly has never been drilled, making it a top priority target for 2025.
Exploration Results and Future Plans
The detailed geological mapping program has significantly enhanced the understanding of the Confederation Assemblage, providing valuable data for advancing exploration targets in this area. According to Will Robinson, Vice President of Exploration, "We are quite pleased with the results of our first-ever regional surface exploration program across the Madsen property. The program was successful in delineating a number of high-caliber geochemical anomalies that will warrant follow-up exploration and possibly drilling in 2025."
Robinson further emphasized the importance of the North Shore target, stating, “The till anomaly defined at the North Shore target fits our exploration model for this highly prospective corridor, resulting in an exciting drill-ready target for 2025.” The correlation between the geochemical anomalies and the underlying geology reinforces WRLG’s belief that the Confederation Assemblage holds untapped potential for gold discoveries.
Strategic Position in the Red Lake Gold District
The Madsen Property is strategically located in the heart of the Red Lake Gold District, one of the most prolific gold-producing areas in Canada. WRLG's exploration efforts in this largely underexplored area highlight the significant upside potential of the property. With the successful identification of high-priority targets, West Red Lake Gold is well-positioned to continue advancing its exploration activities in 2025, with drilling programs planned to follow up on these exciting surface anomalies.
