Probe Gold Inc. (TSX:PRB) is pleased to report the successful results of its 2024 Mobile Metal Ion (MMI) soil sampling program on the 100%-owned Detour Quebec Project. The comprehensive survey, which involved the collection of 2,451 MMI soil samples, has successfully identified strong gold and gold-copper trends extending 15 kilometers southeast along the trend of Agnico Eagle’s Zone 58N gold deposit. These promising results support Probe’s ongoing exploration efforts, positioning the Detour Quebec Project as a highly prospective asset in the region.
Strong Gold-Copper Trends Identified
The 2024 MMI soil sampling survey was conducted along the Lower Detour Deformation Zone and the Zone 58N shear splay, extending from Agnico Eagle’s Detour gold project. The soil samples, taken at 50-meter spacing along lines spaced 200 to 400 meters apart, have highlighted significant gold and copper trends across the area. These trends suggest the potential for high-grade gold mineralization similar to Agnico Eagle’s Zone 58N deposit.
David Palmer, President and CEO of Probe, commented, “Our ongoing exploration at Detour continues to showcase the district-scale potential of this project. The soil sampling program has defined promising gold and copper targets, indicating the potential for mineralized systems similar to Zone 58N-style high-grade gold mineralization. In 2025, we plan to expand the soil program, conduct follow-up geophysics, and drill-test the new targets we have identified. Given these strong results, Detour will be a key priority in our regional exploration strategy for 2025.”
Geophysical and Structural Analysis to Guide Follow-Up Drilling
The next phase of exploration will be guided by an integrated approach combining MMI anomalies with ground geophysical surveys. SRK Consulting is currently conducting a magnetic structural interpretation of the Zone 58N shear splay and the soil sampling grid over Probe’s property. This data, along with the MMI anomalies, will inform future drill targeting and help identify highly prospective areas for potential mineralization.
To date, the results from the 2024 MMI survey have delineated several subparallel trends that extend both east and west of the primary anomalies, with some of these trends correlating with induced polarization (IP) anomalies identified during the Company’s 2023 geophysical survey. These areas have not yet been drill-tested, making them a key focus for future exploration.
Structural and Geological Understanding
The structural analysis being conducted by SRK Consulting utilizes data from a high-resolution aeromagnetic survey conducted in 2020. The study has already established fault structures at various orders (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th), providing valuable insight into the geometry of structures and the distribution of fault and shear zones. These findings enhance the Company’s geological understanding of the Au mineralized zone and will contribute to future exploration targeting.
The objective of this analysis is to further refine the structural and geological understanding of the Detour Quebec Project and improve the accuracy of drill targeting in upcoming exploration phases.
2025 Exploration Plans
Looking forward to 2025, Probe Gold is committed to advancing the Detour Quebec Project with an expanded exploration program. Planned activities include:
- Expansion of the MMI Soil Program: Additional soil sampling will be conducted to further define the gold and copper trends across the project area.
- Follow-Up Geophysics: Ground geophysical surveys, including IP, will continue to support drill targeting.
- Drilling: A follow-up drilling program is currently in preparation to test the high-priority targets identified through MMI soil sampling, geophysics, and structural analysis.
With its successful 2024 MMI soil sampling program, Probe Gold is well-positioned to continue its exploration efforts and unlock the full potential of the Detour Quebec Project. The strong results from this survey, combined with ongoing structural analysis and upcoming drill programs, underscore the significant opportunity for discovery and growth at Detour Quebec.
